2025 was a life changing year for me and I am forever grateful for the experiences and people I met along the way. From taking friends to Iceland for the first time, to enduring a blizzard to photograph Arctic Foxes, to reaching the Arctic Circle, to winning my first photography award- it all feels like a dream.
With that said, I want to bring the same enthusiasm and momentum into 2026, focusing my images on local wildlife and Arctic regions, and using my lens as a voice for good.
In 2025, I published my first calendar for Puffin Conservation, featuring 12 thoughtfully curated images I took in the High North. All profits went to the Seabird Institute in Maine, and my work to help these precious species has only just begun. It is not too late to support my efforts and get yours here.
Here are my favorite images of 2025:
Land of the gods at Golden Hour, Iceland, January 2025. This image was captured while on a Super Jeep tour of Thorsmork. I love it because it captures the dramatic yet ethereal landscape in this valley. Arctic Fox during a storm, Hornstrandir, March 2025. This is the image that changed my life. I never knew I had such resilience in me until this day. This image and the experience earned me a speaking engagement next March at a University where I will talk about the incredible impact the arts can have on our lives. Arctic foxes are incredible creatures, and watching them endure this storm was amazing!Eider Duck during a storm; Hornstrandir, March 2025. This image holds such purpose for me. During a 6-day expedition in this remote nature reserve, 5 other photographers and I witnessed the miracle of Arctic Wildlife. These ducks kept me entertained as I waited for the foxes in unbelievable conditions. Atlantic Puffin on Westman Island, June 2025. I took a lot of puffin photos this year. I was fortunate enough to journey to the Arctic Circle and then to Westman Island to see them again. I love this image because it plays on the curious nature of these seabirds and on how often I would wait by the cliffs, watching for one to pop up from the grasses. Fox Kit Northeast Pennsylvania June 2025. This photograph won me an award and my first photography exhibit in Milford, PA. I had no idea that showing up every day to wait by the forest would get me an award-winning photograph. It was a moment I will always cherish, and I am thrilled that the image was well-received.Mount Jo at Sunrise, Adirondacks, NY, November 2025. For years, I have wanted to photograph sunrise from this small peak in the ADK’s, and I finally got there. An early-morning ascent by headlamp rewarded me with stunning views and golden light. 10/10 recommend!Skogafoss, Iceland. June 2025. One of my favorite waterfalls in Iceland is the mystical and powerful Skogafoss. It also happens to be one of the most popular, which meant a strict strategy to get this shot all by itself. It was inspired by many nights I stood before the waterfall alone, mesmerized, imagining what lay unseen. Reflections. Shohola, PA. November 2025. November was a busy month for me with photographs. I love the early morning colors and fading foliage. This one was achieved with a tripod and remote shutter, and I hope it instills some peace in the viewer. Aurora Fjord Hornstrandir, Iceland, March 2025. This image was taken on the Arctic Fox Expedition. We were treated to cold and clear nights, a perfect recipe for colorful auroras over the fjord. Itchy Harbor Seal, Iceland, March 2025. This adorable seal had just woken up from a nap to give himself a scratch, and I was there to capture the moment. I adore seals, and being able to photograph them a lot this year was a joy! Tiny Dancer, Westman Island, June 2025. This White Wagtail appeared beside me as I waited for puffins during one beautiful evening on Westman. It just goes to show you that you never know what you might capture just by being out there.
What is ahead for the New Year
I chose the word “purpose” to define the year ahead, and I intend on using my images and writing as a force for good in this world. Whether to inspire you, to relax you, to advocate for nature, and, hopefully, all of the above, my purpose is to make this world a better place in the ways I can and know how.
Wintering Eagles Watching
For the next few weeks, I am keeping busy with frequent trips to the river, observing and photographing our resident Bald Eagles. Bald Eagles breed in the winter here in the Northeast, which increases the eaglet survival rates once they are ready to fledge, but creates challenging conditions for mom and dad. You can follow my updates on YouTube and Instagram as plenty of eagles have already been spotted, as well as a Belted Kingfisher and Common Mergansers.
Puffins and Arctic Foxes in Iceland
Yes, I will be returning to Iceland for more puffins and Arctic foxes, and to take a road trip to Maine to visit the Seabird Institute. Stay tuned for more projects and publications to support their conservation efforts! I will also be returning to Hrisey for the spring bird migration, and I am especially excited about it.
Speaking engagement at Marywood University
In March, I will be giving a talk about my journey as an artist at Marywood University. This is part of the Armature NEPA’s initiative to nurture youth creativity through community engagement. I am really excited about this talk, where I will share how my experience photographing Arctic foxes in blizzard conditions in Iceland changed my life.
Resting in Gratitude
No matter what, my New Year goals include being more present and grateful. This can sometimes be a challenge, especially when creating content, seeking the “perfect” shot, or sharing my work, but as the saying goes, it’s the journey, not the destination. I have several other international trips planned, too, even one with family, and I am looking forward to documenting that one more than anything. In the meantime, I will enjoy the part of where I am calling home.
